Six marathons in three months

Gynette Janney owns and runs the Springfield hotel http://hotel-northwales.com/

I recently met up with Gynette and while talking she mentioned the training she was doing for not one but 6 marathons. This week’s blog is written by Gynette who is seeking donations for her chosen charity.

During 2012 I will take part in 6 Full Power walking Marathons (26.2 miles)

1st – Virgin London Marathon 22nd April

2nd Playtex London Moonwalk (starts at Midnight) 12th May (this will be my 12th year taking part and also will be on my 40th birthday oh what a party!!)

Then 3,4,5,6 Marathons I will go to Holland in July and do 4 Marathons in 4 days

All money raised (hoping for £4000 or even more) will go to the Breast Cancer Charity – Walk the Walk (www.walkthewalk.org)  I have been raising money for walk the walk for over 12 years taking part in 11 London Moonwalks, 2 Edinburgh Moonwalks, 3 Great North Runs, 1 Great South Run so far.

Training at the moment of average is 25 miles a week this will increase over the next few weeks to around 35-40 miles and then more leading up to July.  All events I will be doing in a decorated BRA which is walk the walks trade mark.

To raise money I have already done a Pamper Night in Nov which raised £750, we also did a day in Tesco that raised £176 and the odd raffle so far in the pot is £1800. I have a Zumba night booked for the 1st of March at the Springfield tickets are £5, Fashion Show booked for the 25th April with Wallis and ESP Queensferry doing the clothes tickets are £3 again at the Springfield Hotel

  1. Hi Gynette, I’m full of admiration for you. I used to run half marathons and that nearly creased me. Can’t even imagine facing 4 marathons in 4 days. Wishing you the very best of luck – keep smiling!! Liz, Icon Imagery
