Get into Golf

22 Sep

Golf is good for you and it’s never been easier to get started

Ever fancied trying your hand at golf? It doesn’t matter if you’ve never played before or haven’t picked up a club since childhood or an almost-forgotten holiday – everybody is welcome at a series of beginner sessions across the county.

Cheshire Golf Partnership is running Get into golf courses coached by PGA professionals and designed to introduce women to this fantastic sport that can help you stay in shape, feel happier and make new friends – or simply have fun with an existing group of friends.

The five-week course, held at golf clubs across the Cheshire, cost just £25 and equipment is provided – all you need to do is book and turn up in comfortable clothing. You will receive a basic introduction to the game, together with information about club membership and the chance for more follow-on lessons.

Golf is the perfect game for women of all ages and brings some impressive health and wellbeing benefits that can help you look and feel your best.

Indeed, research now shows that this increasingly popular sport is actually a powerhouse of all the core ingredients that doctors recommend for optimum physical and mental health and wellbeing.

It can burn calories, lower cholesterol and may even help you live longer – golfers live an average of five more years than the rest of the population. It also keeps you mentally alert, boosting your body’s natural feel good chemicals.

Golf is an excellent low intensity exercise which means it’s safe for your joints but can still burn  more than a thousand calories a game as well as keeping you fit and flexible. It will help keep you slim and improve your overall health by lowering your risk of heart disease, diabetes and cancer.

Play golf and you will also never find yourself short of friends. Indeed, much of the joy and attraction of the sport is the friendships and camaraderie that develop while you are playing it. There’s no better sport for making new friends and growing closer bonds with people you know already.

There’s never been a better time to discover how golf’s unique combination of exercise, sporting skill and social interaction make it the perfect tonic for good health and happiness
